> Prior to his professional career, Brisson represented the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, scoring two goals in four games, and captured gold at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship, skating in seven games and recording a pair of goals. He played for the University of Michigan Wolverines from 2020-22 and had 63 points (31 goals, 32 assists) in 62 games, winning a B1G Championship and earning B1G Second All-Star Team recognition in 2022\. In 2019-20, as a member of the USHL’s Chicago Steel, Brisson was named USHL Rookie of the Year, earning spots on both the USHL First All-Star Team and the USHL All-Rookie Team, after recording 24 goals and 35 assists in 45 games.

Brisson is 24, and is a left-shooting winger. He was in the AHL/NHL last season with the Rangers organization. 

Although he is an American and from LA, Brisson's father (the agent Pat Brisson) is from Quebec and played junior hockey there. He has a brother, Jordan, who will be playing alongside Zach Olsen in the NCAA this year, in hockey is a small world news. 

Brisson played with Matt Knies on that fun US Olympic team in 2022 that was full of college players and AHLers. I recall he was pretty good. Touted as a high-IQ forward, he has never quite broken into the NHL on a few teams, and his limited play shows him to be a fourth-line level player with none of the offensive impact his draft scouting promised. But he has never played a regular NHL role on any team yet. His AHL play is very good.

He does not appear to have any great gift defensively, which will limit his ability to find an NHL role on any team, and the Leafs, it should be obvious are full to the brim and overflowing with depth options with all sorts of special skills. 

He is not waivers exempt, but he should clear and start the season on the Marlies where he would be one of a very few wingers with NHL experience.
