This is right in line with Evolving Hockey's prediction, a good source for contracts! 

Knies is... well if you don't know, what are you doing here? He is perfect on the top line, was better this year markedly than last and is only 23 years old later this year. 

Things are looking up around here. 

Six years gives him stability, gives the Leafs a sweet deal in the future years and is a commitment to the future of the team. Very soon, this will be a standard length of contract, he's just a hipster in on the trend early.
