# Report: Leafs traded for Connor Dewar

Honesty compels me to tell you I have no ide what that is. 

Dewar is 24, a centre, and he was drafted by Minnesota in the third round in 2018\. He has been a regular NHLer that past two years.

Per [Evolving Hockey's player card](https://evolving-hockey.com/stats/player%5Fcards/?%5Finputs%5F&p%5Fcard%5Ftype=%221-Year%22&p%5Fcard%5Fseason=%2220232024%22&p%5Fcard%5Fplayer=%22Connor%20Dewar%22&ref=pensionplanpuppets.com), he is a primarily defensive forward with some offensive ability and a lovely bit of PK skill.

I'm sold, where to I join the fanclub?

He has been playing nine minutes a game on the Wild at five-on-five, and a little more with PK minutes. HockeyViz really rates him as a potential middle-six forward. His overall impacts are almost identical to Simon Benoit, great at defence, a gently negative value offensively and real PK value. 

Honestly, this guy sounds perfect. He's on an expiring deal with an AAV of $800,000, and he will have arbitration rights.
