A group of [Maple Leafs](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/teams/toronto-maple-leafs?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com), mostly prospects, played against a similar [Red Wings](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/teams/detroit-red-wings?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) team last night in Hamilton. The Leafs ended up losing. Nafio made a great recap.

Meanwhile the Marlies are playing preseason in St. John's and are already winning cups!

It's that time of year when the waiver wire is super busy.

[Nathan Gerbe went on waivers yesterday](https://twitter.com/NYRangers/status/784426913280458752?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com), he could be a good pickup. He's on a league minimum salary 1 year contract now. Rumour is he will leave the NHL if no one claims him and go play in Europe.
