# The Trade Deadline Can Be A Confusing Time

So last night saw [Alexei Ponikarovsky](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54295/Alexei%5FPonikarovsky?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) shipped off to Pittsburgh for prospect [Luca Caputi](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/55391/Luca%5FCaputi?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) (sweet name) and defenseman [Martin Skoula](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54732/Martin%5FSkoula?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) (salary dump). First it was Pittsburgh, then it wasn't, then it was LA, but maybe someone else, then Pittsburgh again, repeat ad naseum.

I can only imagine the situation inside the [Maple Leafs](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/teams/TOR?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) war room was as confusing as this:
