Okay, okay, okay, you get the idea. The Islanders are in town so talk of approaching UFA John Tavares coming to play for the Maple Leafs heats up and that’s all anyone hears about. Well, aside from that the Maple Leafs have won eight of their past ten games (4-1 loss to the Bruins and a 5-3 loss to the Penguins), including a 5-0 shut out of the Islanders in Brooklyn.

The Islanders are coming down to needing a couple big win streaks to make the playoffs, and have only won four of their past 10 games. Former Maple Leafs prospect Chris Gibson is their back up goalie right now as well, so it’s a familiar face on the bench. Former Islander Matt Martin is most likely riding the press box as he has been for the majority of the games over the past few weeks.
