Toronto Maple Leafs 2018 2nd round pick Sean Durzi has been traded from the Owen Sound Attack to the Guelph Storm ahead of the OHL trade deadline this week.

The Guelph Storm have been building up for a run at the Memorial Cup this season (Ryan Merkley trade aside), and adding a top player like Durzi is exactly what they needed on the blue line. This season Durzi has been an offensive and defensive star for Owen Sound, he has three goals and 13 assists for 16 points in 17 games. He missed a few weeks at the start of the season with an undisclosed injury, but hasn’t missed a step since returning.

Durzi is going to Guelph along with Montreal Canadiens prospect Nick Suzuki - there was a request that the two be moved together - after teams like the Soo Greyhounds, Sudbury Wolves, and Niagara IceDogs failed to get the pair. Sean Durzi will also be joining fellow Maple Leafs prospect Fedor Gordeev as new defenders on the Storm.

Maple Leafs fans in the Guelph/Waterloo area now have two prospects they can watch for the rest of the season, until Guelph is beaten in the OHL Finals by Niagara, that is.
