Hello fans of Toronto Maple Leafs prospects! The Thanksgiving holiday threw me off my schedule and backed me up for two weeks on the prospect watching. I missed probably the most surprising thing that could happen with a Maple Leafs prospect on Friday night:

Semyon Der-Arguchintsev was suspended for fighting.

Really. Watch this:

Yes, our seventh grade looking prospect got into it with a member of the Bertuzzi clan; Todd’s son Tag. It’s not much of a fight, but since the two were wrestling around and punches were thrown after there was already a fight in progress, they were both suspended for two games for participating in a secondary fight.

When you have to wait a month into the season to have your home opener, you need to give the fans a show.

Mr. Der-Arguchintsev sat the last two games of the week after being suspended, and his line didn’t do well without him. Coming up this week the Petes get to enjoy a weekend at home now that the PMC is open.

The Wolves stockpiled a good amount of wins to start the year, so going .500 over the past two weeks didn’t hurt too much as they stay in second place in the Eastern Conference. The Wolves are out west this weekend, playing in Flint, Saginaw, and Windsor if you’re out that way.

Scott is still injured, so he hasn’t been assigned anywhere to play yet, and is still officially with the Marlies.

Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

#9 - Mikhail Abramov (C/RW) - 1G, 4A, -3
Victoriaville Tigres - 3-8-0-3

Oct. 20th: @ Drummondville Voltiguers
L 3-2 SO - 1G, 0A

Ohhh boy. The only cure for the Tigres losses, seems to be Abramov having a multi-point night. Sadly those seem rare, so guess the Tigres will have to start doing some drafting to find out who’s in the QMJHL’s top three picks next spring.

#33 Zachary Bouthillier (G) - 110sv, 130sh, .846sv%
Saint John Sea Dogs - 4-8-1-0

Oct. 18th: @ Charlottetown Islanders
L 7-6 OT - Did Not Play
Oct. 19th: vs Charlottetown Islanders
L 4-2 - 20sv, 24sh, .833sv%

The Sea Dogs went all in to win the 2017 Memorial Cup, and are still paying the price with an extended rebuild through their big 15th anniversary season. However, somehow they’re in a playoff spot, sitting just above the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. It’s not a good year for teams with three words in their names.

USHL

#84 - Michael Koster (D) - 0G, 1A, -4
Tri-City Storm - 2-5-1-1

Oct. 10th: vs Sioux Falls Stampede
W 4-1 - 0G, 0A, +2
Oct. 12th: @ Waterloo Black Hawks
L 1-0 - No Points

Oct. 19th: vs Sioux Falls Stampede
L 2-1 - 0G, 0A, -1
Oct. 20th: vs Cedar Rapids Rough Riders
W 4-2 - 0G, 1A, -1

Mike Koster lives! I guess he just wanted to get out of all of the pre-season or something, but here are the Storm’s games featuring one of our newest prospects.

They aren’t great.

NCAA

Ryan O’Connell (D) - 0G, 0A, -1
Ohio State Buckeyes
Overall: 2-1-1 / Conference: 0-0

Oct. 6th: vs Western (Exhibition)
W 5-2 - 0G, 0A, -1

W 3-1 - Did Not Play
Oct. 18th: vs Omaha
W 3-2 - Did Not Play
Oct. 19th: vs Omaha
L 2-1 - Did Not Play

O’Connell didn’t suit up for any games to open the season, as the seniors took the ice to get things started. The Sophomore will get some ice time, but the veterans go first. If you’re up for a trip, the Buckeyes will be in Erie, PA this weekend to play Mercyhurst.

#16 - Nicholas Abruzzese (C) -  2G, 1A, -2
Harvard Crimson

Oct. 19th @ Dartmouth (Exhibition)
W 4-2 - 2G, 1A, -2

The real games don’t start until November, but Abruzzes did very well in an exhibition game against Dartmouth. It was just a scrimmage, so there’s no video sadly.

#14 - JD Greenway (D) - 1G, 3A, +4
Maine Black Bears
Overall: 3-2 / Conference: 0-1

Oct. 11th: vs U. Alaska (Anchorage)
W 7-1 - 1G, 1A, +1

Oct. 12th: vs U. Alaska (Anchorage)

Oct. 18th: @ Quinnipac
W 4-2 - 0G, 1A, +1
Oct. 19th: @ Quinnipac
L 4-3 - 0G, 1A, +1

Greenway’s break from college must have done him well, as he’s jumped out of the gate for Maine this season, starting the season with four points in five games.

Finally, I have made this chart tracking the points for each prospect. I have also added power play points so you can see if a player is stacking his stats with points that don’t actually count.
