That was how it ended, and it was a classic Marlies-style win, which is not necessarily a good thing. They had a 3-1 lead, and it took OT to get the thing done.

Chase Witala is hot right now, and can play well at the AHL level it seems. I hope he is one of the few of the players on this Marlies roster who make the team when all the cuts happen next week. Most of the guys on the ice in Corner Brook tonight are going to Orlando or to some other destination. Witala might be one of the few to stick.

Mason Marchment is another man who might make the jump from undrafted OHL player to the Marlies. He works hard, he can score, and he’s proved he’s not intimidated by the level of physical play he’ll face in the minor pros.
The IceCaps came back and tied it up 3-3. Jeff Glass was in net tonight, but that’s no top quality lineup in front of him, so it’s safe to assume it wasn’t all on him. Witala made it 4-3, and the IceCaps tied it up again.
Sebastien Sylvestre of the Orlando Solar Bears got the game winner in overtime.
The third game of the series is played Sunday afternoon in Gander, and then this edition of the Marlies come back to Toronto to learn their fate in the organization.
