You may have heard that Nazem Kadri and Morgan Rielly both signed contract extensions today. Exciting! Kadri, 25, was the Leafs' leading scorer; while Rielly, 22, was the leading scorer on the defence.

And because they're in their early 20s, of course, one expects a Twitter reaction from them. So let's go there.

This is so sweet. Kadri really is a local boy in every sense of the word, so to finally get rewarded with a long-term contract from the team you grew up cheering for, the team that drafted you - I can't even imagine what that's like. That's really, really special.

"Toronto is the only place I've ever known; it's the only place I've ever wanted to play for," he said.

Rielly's most recent tweet, meanwhile, is...

... Morgan you're 22 years old why aren't you tweeting. Though I guess he gets to hang out around the Jays more often than he might have otherwise, now.

He did have this Instagram post just a couple of days ago, though:

Thank you to all the fans for the amazing support and loyalty. Better days are ahead.

He probably had some inkling his new contract was soon to be finalized, eh? Yeah I'm probably reading too much into this, but it's still a really sweet message.

As is what he actually said: "I want to be in Toronto. This is the place I want to be in." There's a lot of optimism in the Leafs locker room nowadays, and Kadri and Rielly are definitely a big part of that.

James van Riemsdyk, meanwhile, appears to be very proud of his teammates.

Or maybe he just wants them to buy him stuff. Honestly, it's probably both.
