Curtis McElhinney made his Toronto Maple Leafs debut, and with it, he got his first win wearing the blue and white.
McElhinney, 33, is the definition of an NHL journeyman. He’s played for the Calgary Flames, the Anaheim Ducks, the Ottawa Senators, the Phoenix Coyotes, and he had finally seemed to find a home with the Columbus Blue Jackets, his team since the 2013-14 season, until they waived him - and the Leafs picked him up.
The Leafs became team number six for him, and his win - just the 46th of his career - made him a king, of sorts, among journeyman goaltenders.
Via the Elias Sports Bureau, his wins for six different teams is the most among all active goaltenders, tied with fellow journeyman Chad Johnson.
I can only imagine the pucks McElhinney has kept throughout his career to mark all of these. It must be quite the collection - and pretty cool for someone making the absolute most of his time in the NHL.
