There was the potential for him to get an ELC from the Leafs in his D+1 year if it happened before he was returned to his junior team. All four of the Lefs 6D options (Benoit, Thrun, Myers, Mermis) would need to be out-played by the teenager and go on waivers for Danford to get a real shot. Maybe it happens, but only if Danford is a significant enough value add. I'm also not sure the benefit of Cowan playing like a fourth liner agitant. He has more upside than that and I don't want him cutting off parts of his development to make the lineup now. Maybe that's not how it works, but I don't know and until I understand better it's a concern I have. Haymes has passed Quillan as the next Marlie up after Cowan and might have some upside as a bottom six C. Robertson cemented his case to not be in this lineup even more after last game. He was disconnected from the system and didn't help get the puck to dangerous areas offensively. The Leafs also don't seem to have an idea for Kämpf. He's been skating with the Marlies so something needs to happen.
