And this is a real thing. It affects everyone. Sabalenka can see in herself what's going on, and learn from her reactions, even mildly bad ones. The comments were basically her saying she lost the match rather than Gauff won it, which is ye olde bad self-talk as much as it comes off as running down Gauff's abilities. You can't see this in Sabalenka. You can't know if she's just not good enough on the day or if she's not able to commit to winning in an emotional way. And none of us can know if she was 100% committed to winning if she might not still have lost. Any story about her emotional life is hers to write. That's it for today: The 2024-2025 season is over.
