In the NCAA, Serdachny's 61 points were best-of-the-rest behind the big four in Wisconsin (Simms, O'Brien, Murphy, and Curl) who were favourites to win the tournament, but lost in the finals to Ohio State. Those two teams have swapped NCAA titles the last five seasons.
