Per the CWHL, Iya Gavrilova, a Russian Olympic team center, has registered for the Canadian league's draft, coming in August of 2016.

To suggest that hockey pioneer Shirley Cameron joined the women’s game at the grass roots level doesn’t give her nearly enough credit. When she first took her skates and stick to a rink, the seeds hadn’t even been planted yet. There was nothing. No local teams in Edmonton.
