It’s here! It’s really happening! Don't let today’s abnormally warm weather in Toronto confuse you; the off-season is over, and our hockey heroes are about to kick-off the 2016-17 season.

Tonight’s game features the formal NHL debut of Auston Matthews, Nikita Zaitsev, and Mitch Marner; plus the Leafs debut of Frederik Andersen in goal, and Matt Martin playing with... well, we shall see. Unfortunately, the Leafs are not starting their season here in Toronto, but instead in Ottawa Kanata.

It's opening night, so expect an embarrassing ceremony to take up a fair bit of time. If you’re running late, don't worry, puck drop probably won’t really happen until around 7:20. We will also get a preview of the revamped Sportsnet hockey broadcasts tonight, though they may hold off most of the changes for HNIC on Saturday.
