The NHL Department of Player Safety has announced Leo Komarov will be suspended for the next 3 games for his elbow to the jaw of Ryan McDonagh during the first period of Thursday night's game.

Komarov is presently The Leafs leading scorer with 35 points; 18 goals and 17 assists, in 56 games. That's a personal best in his professional career. Komarov has demonstrated he is an effective pest and often walks the line between clean and dirty. He stepped over it on this play.

With Komarov gone almost the entire top six of The Leafs are out of the game. Tyler Bozak, Joffrey Lupul, and James van Riemsdyk are still out with injuries. Nazem Kadri is the survivor left to hold down the fort with a bunch of call-ups from the Marlies.

Now the speculation turns to whom will be called up to replace Leo. Will they bring back Brendan Leipsic, or will this be the call William Nylander has been waiting for? Perhaps Connor Brown, or Kasperi Kapanen are candidates? This race has more candidates than the GOP Presidential primaries, only the candidates are actually all qualified for the job.

What do you think of this suspension?

He shouldn't have been suspended. This is BS!30
It's a bit long, but he deserved to be suspended.118
