In a dramatic showdown between longtime Swedish national team veteran Emma Eliasson (D, Lulea HF, Riksserien) and coach Leif Boork, Eliasson has been left off the 2016-17 roster and told she is not welcome back to the Swedish National Team. Former NHLer Mikael Renberg compared it to Sweden not picking Erik Karlsson for the Swedish men's team. Emma Eliasson is currently the captain of Riksserien champions Lulea HF and the move has led to talk that Boork should be removed from his duties.
