A scary turn of events for the Leafs in tonight’s critical Pittsburgh-Toronto game: Penguins winger Tom Sestito hit Frederik Andersen in the head while driving to the crease.

Andersen was visibly shaken up on the play, and left to be seen by doctors as part of the concussion protocol.

Defenders of Sestito will argue that he was merely trying to screen the incoming shot.  Critics will point out that Sestito was clearly reckless to the consequences of the hit and, you know, that he should probably have at least a vague awareness of where he’s going.

We’ll update you on Andersen’s status when we know more.

UPDATE after the game: Babcock’s official word is we’ll get a report tomorrow.

Should Sestito be suspended for this hit?
