It's almost like (former Tampa Bay player) Sheldon Keefe is a good coach and the Marlies have good players:

And yet the Marlies continue to win. They lead the AHL with 60 points, seven ahead of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. They have won 29 of their first 38 games (29-7-2-0) and 17 of their 20 road games (17-2-1-0) under rookie coach Sheldon Keefe.

Other than a brief post-holiday stumble, the Marlies have won nine of their past 11 games. They have won five consecutive games as they start to wind down a five-game road trip this week. (source)

Thank you for noticing, NHL.com! The Marlies are definitely our shining bright stars in a season of rebuilding.

More excellent reporting from El Seldo. "If the Canadians can't fix their special teams then they have no chance at gold, if they make it that far. It's as simple as that. The Americans put on a clinic tonight. Special teams and even strength were excellent. Majority of Canada's chances came at the perimeter and was key to the USA controlling the game for as long as they did."

"The uncertainty, Eric Staal admits, has weighed upon him more than he has let on at times. It isn’t just about playing out the final year of his contract without knowing what comes next. As a player, he can deal with that. As a husband and father and brother, it gets a little tougher."
