What are you doing on Saturday, Jan. 30 and Sunday, Jan. 31? If you live in the South like I do, it's likely you'll consider making the drive over to Nashville, Tennessee, to see the All-Star Game at the Bridgestone Arena. This year might prove to be even more exciting than usual, too, because the league is incredibly excited about playing with its new 3-on-3 toy.
ESPN reports via TSN's Bob McKenzie that the All-Star Game is going to have a different format this year. There will be a four-team mini playoff, followed by three separate 20 minute 3-on-3 games. The mini-playoff will have two teams from the East face each other, and the two teams from the West do the same. The winners will meet for three 20 minute 3-on-3 games.
Will there be the amazing drunken popularity contest that is the draft, with the losers getting the car? Nope. The players asked that the draft NOT take place, and since it'll be East vs. West, there could be some actual real rivalry a-brewing in this tiny preview of the SCF.
I, for one, am excited to see a little less pure b***s*** and a little more actual skill.
