While the Toronto Maple Leafs celebrate another win with a rare Saturday night off — and Jack Campbell texts Connor Hellebuyck words of encouragement — the Toronto Marlies are set to play the Belleville Senators at 5pm. This game is being streamed for free on AHLTV along with all eight other games on Saturday. Prospects from the Leafs like Nick Robertson and Semyon Der-Arguchintsev will be playing today along with those on the affiliate teams of the Lightning, Penguins, Sabres, Panthers and many others.

Robertson and Der-Arguchintsev have been reunited from their Peterborough Petes days and they’ve been a lot of fun to watch this week. They’ve been paired with Joey Anderson, and the three have made a really great top line. If you know me, you know I won’t stop talking about Kristians Rubins, because he’s awesome. Jeremy McKenna has also been a spectacular find.

And the Marlies have been scoring on the power play, in case anyone’s into that kind of thing.

So come tune in for today’s game. You’ll be able to sound smart about prospects heading into the trade deadline, and there’s literally nothing else you could be doing on this Saturday night in Ontario. Literally. Nothing. At all.

Various Leafs and Branches

Slightly more on the Marlies, Kyle Dubas noted that the team is evaluating Robertson for a job on the Leafs this season, particularly this weekend. They want him and Rasmus Sandin for the playoff run. I personally don’t see him being ready for that just yet, but you never know what can happen, he’s getting older by the day.
