David Kämpf has not been happy being sent to the AHL. He played four games for the Marlies but has since been away from the club. It's been long enough now that the Leafs can suspend Kämpf for failure to report. The short-term benefit is $1.25 million in cap space for the Leafs, but this arrangement won't last long term. It's expected that a resolution will come soon.
My guess is a trade to an NHL team that will give him a chance in the lineup. His $2.5 million contract is very affordable for half the league. Second, his contract is terminated and Kämpf either searches for a new NHL contract or one in Europe. The least likely is he returns to the Marlies or Leafs in any capacity. It seems like that ship is sailed.
Awkward transition, here's what Berube had to say about many of his bottom-six players.

What's the deal with Nick Robertson, and will his run of form last?
There's a possible sequel to the Arthur Kaliyev gambling investigation. Also Friedman said about Kämpf, "it was clear his heart wasn’t in it." It being playing knowing he was on the outside.

Interesting development in St. Louis. They beat Buffalo 3-0.
Not really a fan of a jersey that could plausibly be used for the Albanian National Team. No disrespect, but a white leaf on a red jersey is the only choice. The players can wear black shorts if you must harken back to the WJC glory days.
