But first, there's a little more fallout from the new MLSE policy to stop video tributes. Apparently not everyone got the memo that the lack of tributes is a blanket policy, and thought MLSE was singling out Phil Kessel, including Kris Letang and SBN's own writer Pat Iversen. Iversen wrote, "Leafs don't deserve nice things because they treat their nice things badly":

The least the Leafs and their fans could do on Saturday was acknowledge his contributions when he returned as a Penguin for the first time on Saturday. The standard going rate for a returning former player with tenure is a video tribute and a polite ovation. Superficial things that still mean something on some level. (Source)As we know, Phil was the victim of unfortunate timing (which, hey, could be a metaphor). Shanahan and Lamoriello have simply decided to stop doing tributes. Also, I'm not sure that Leafs treat nice things badly -- from protecting the youth to protecting the players from media to protecting the front office, I'm pretty sure that this regime is doing things right.

Also, it's not like Toronto is Montreal, where patient fans are subjected to the ceremony of the day. I can't see Lamoriello sitting through that. "What is dis bullshit," I imagine him saying, "Just get to the f***ing hockey already."

And with that, on to the links.
