I would just like to take a minute to run through the opponents that the New York Islanders have faced these playoffs.
- They faced the trash Panthers in their play-in series.
- They faced the Washington Capitals who played so poorly and reportedly were so disinterested in actually playing hockey that the coach got fired.
- They barely eked out a 7 game series win against the Flyers, who had just struggled to beat the Canadiens the round before.
- Now the Isles are facing a REAL team and got absolutely destroyed 8-2.
Keith Jones just said the Lightning went the entire game without missing the net and I was like wait, what?— Corey Masisak (@cmasisak22) September 8, 2020
TB officially had one missed shot -- Cedric Paquette tipped one wide with 1:07 left.
34 shots on goal, 12 blocked ... 1 missed net.
Am I exaggerating some of how bad their opposition is to make fun of the Isles? Yes. Yes I am. But it’s the Labour Day FTB and I don’t really feel like putting in more work.

Brayden Point: Good at hockey. NHL GMs, not good at scouting actual talent.
I'll go you one better - there's an NHL team who passed on him at that draft because his force plate results at the combine were bad. Felt he would never be an elite athlete. https://t.co/VQDCdCUOik— Jeff Marek (@JeffMarek) September 8, 2020
Speaking of Brayden Point, there’s a certain small-ish WHL center that we should all want the Leafs to draft.
Mike Babcock and Gerard Gallant have both interviewed for the Washington Capitals head coaching vacancy.
