The Leafs hosted their annual kids game, and lost 4-1 to the Colorado Avalanche. Brock Nelson scored a hat trick. Domi ruined the shutout for Blackwood in garbage time, but otherwise the handful of chances the Leafs had didn't go in, but they did for the Avs. Joseph Woll stopped 33 of 36 in the loss. The Leafs were outshot 33-37, but won 56% of the faceoffs and had twice as many hits as the Avs. Moral victory for some?

Here's the players talking after the loss.

And a transcript instead.

Craig Berube on the Leafs’ energy on the bench during a fourth straight loss: “It’s quiet, and that’s not going to help... You have to cheer for your teammate, and you have to have energy no matter the situation”
Craig Berube addressed the media after his team’s 4-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche, which dropped the Maple Leafs’ record to 24-19-9. On his takeaways from the loss: I thought we came out and were fine. We made two puck-play mistakes, and it was in our net. Execution was the cause of a couple of […]

The fading Maple Leafs lost to the Avalanche on Sunday to drop to 0-3-1 on their current homestand. The TSN Hockey panel breaks down the Leafs’ lackluster performance against Colorado and the questions that will continue to come up if Toronto can’t turn things around quickly.

Marshall Rifai got a one-game suspension and has sat out yesterday's game already.

The NBA postponed their game on Saturday after Alex Pretti was murdered. The murder happened very close to the Timberwolves arena. The Minnesota Wild's arena is far enough up the road in St. Paul that their game on Saturday wasn't postponed. We'll see what happens in the coming days from the NHL's side, but the NBPA has released the following statement.

The Leafs outdoor practice was cancelled over the weekend, probably for the best all around.

Open Practice Cancelled Due To Weather Conditions | Toronto Maple Leafs
With the safety of our fans as a top priority, the Maple Leafs Open Practice scheduled for Monday, January 26 at 11 a.m. ET at Mattamy Athletic Centre has been cancelled due to extreme weather conditions. We thank fans for their understanding and encourage avoiding non-essential road travel.

Last but not least, did anyone expect the Penguins to be 2nd in the Metro and 8th in the NHL? They just swept their four-game northwestern road trip. Crosby has more goals than Matthews, and I hate to say it but Justin Brazeau has more goals and points than Nick Robertson. And do the Oilers regret trading Stuart Skinner?
