The Leafs have to make their final roster decisions before the start of the season in a few days. They started early by putting David Kämpf on waivers, though he may not be off the team just yet because Scott Laughton is week-to-week with a lower body injury as of yesterday. Kämpf filled Laughton's spot as the 4C between Lorentz and Cowan. With Laughton out to start the season, it kicks the can down the road of having to remove one of Kämpf, Järnkrok, or Robertson from the roster. And with Kämpf the only centre, he's the next man up all of a sudden.

A review of injuries and the rule changes for this season.

Ow, that hurt
A recapping of IR in all its forms, including the new LTIR system.

A polite reminder that Easton Cowan is a pro player this season. His ELC contract has already slid twice (been delayed by playing in junior). Playing 9 NHL games or 40 games does not impact the status of his contract at all. And as far as I can tell, he's made the team.

The Leafs play Detroit as their last preseason game today at 7pm. The first game of the season is on Wednesday against Montreal.

Three guys got claimed on waivers yesterday and there was a big trade, too.

And Nashville signed their training camp holldout Luke Evangelista to a two-year bridge deal.
