Last week, it had seemed as though the NHL and NHLPA had sorted out the majority of the financial logistics and were on their way to agreeing on everything that needed to be agreed upon to have a partial NHL season. We’re getting some more updates on that, though they are delightfully vague.
NHL/NHLPA went non-stop all weekend and continue Monday going back and forth on season protocols, transition rules, critical dates. The hope is to have it wrapped up over the next few days to set up a vote on each side by end of week. But as we saw in June, these things can drag— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) December 14, 2020
So, basically, things might happen soon. Or they might not. Negotiations! In the meantime, we can do what we do whenever there isn’t hockey. Fights over which Maple Leafs prospects career will top out in the AHL is going to be more impressive.
Dreger basically repeats that LeBrun tweet, but in video (he actually does add some stuff, its worth a watch)

Is 50 in 56 possible for Auston Matthews?
Brigs talks about Veeti Miettinen, sparking one of the earlier ‘you are ruining his career’ comments that we’ve seen in the T25U25, which is exciting. Katya chats about the Leafs who are going to the Wold Juniors, which unfortunately will not include Nick Robertson. Finally, Omar tries to figure out if Auston Matthews can one-up Ovi’s 65 goal year.
