It’s Superbowl Sunday so no one will be reading this. You’ll be too busy trying to find the last bag of nacho chips in the city and trekking to some poor unfortunate soul’s house who was foolish enough to volunteer to host. You will consume much chili, wings, pizza and/or other unhealthy foods, to say nothing of booze. Literally no one will pay attention to the actual game except for the weirdos who made those prop bets on how long the anthem is, etc.

Everyone will have moved on from the Leafs’ 2-1 overtime win last night already, even though it vaults them into third in the division thanks to the Habs demolishing the Panthers for us.

I personally have not moved on from how ridiculous Nick Robertson has been of late.

  • He scored 2 goals and added 1 assist.
  • He’s passed his season total in points from last year in 20 fewer games.
  • He’s on an 11 game goal scoring streak.
  • He’s now 1 back of the OHL lead in goals with 11 fewer games played than the guy in first.
  • On this streak he has 15 goals, 5 assists, and averaged more than 7 shots on goal per game/

I want to interrupt the last two points to mention that I wrote this last night I couldn’t stop laughing at how ridiculous it is.

  • Robertson’s shooting percentage on this streak is 18.75%.
  • For the whole season, his shooting percentage is 19.28%.
  • During his 11 game goal streak where he’s scored 15 times he’s actually dropped his season’s shooting percentage hahahahahahaha/

At some point we are going to seriously start wondering if Robertson could possibly make the NHL next year. It’s extremely unfortunate that he can only be in the NHL or have to be sent back to the OHL where he already seems almost too good for the level.

AROUND THE HOCKEY WORLD

Unfortunate news for the New York Rangers, whose prime trade chip just looked to suffer a not-insignificant head injury.

Speaking of trade related stuff...

WANT. DO WANT. TAKE MY MONEY AND GIVE ME ONE.

This was the best thing to happen in hockey yesterday (ignoring that it’s apparently been done before):
