Well that was just awful. As if losing to the Ottawa Senators wasn’t bad enough in a game that was as boring as it was annoying, the Toronto Maple Leafs apparently decided that the way to rectify the situation was signing Roman Polak. I just want all of you loyal PPP commenters and lurkers to know that this is all your fault. This is the punishment for your sins. REPENT AND KNOW THE MERCY OF AUSTON MATTHEWS.
Let’s get one thing straight: I like Roman Polak. He seems like a fun, smart, nice guy. I wish him the best in his life and whatever he can make of the rest of his career. But I don’t like the signing. But... as Katya pointed out in her look into the Leafs’ situation on the third pairing depth, maybe things aren’t quite so cut and dry as they seem. I still don’t like it, but she’s a lot smarter than I am so let’s wait and see!

AROUND THE NHL
Your schadenfreude read of the day from Sportsnet: The Montreal Canadiens’ weaknesses have been on full display this season.
What do you think of the Polak signing?
|I like it - he’s got grit, won’t have the youthful yips, and help a lot with our PK||128|
|I hate it - hard for him to help on the PK when he takes so many damn penalties himself||53|
|Meh - he probably won’t get in as many games as last year and when he does he’ll play little minutes||118|
|WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH ALL THESE DEFENSEMEN???||71|
