It’s not the blockbuster centre move we’re waiting for, but it’s useful: the Leafs have added centre Josh Jooris on a one-year contract.

Jooris is a journeyman pro, bouncing between the NHL and the AHL year to year and cobbling together 213 GP over six seasons, in which time he’s put up 23G-32A-55P.  He most recently appeared for Pittsburgh and Carolina last season.

He’s not going to light the world on fire, but the Leafs’ centre depth is paper thin at the moment and having a professional warm body who can scrap for the 4C job—and who has a completely buryable salary should he be sent to the AHL—is not a bad thing.
