Yesterday, the Leafs signed goalie Ben Scrivens to a two-year deal, worth just over $600k per season. It's great value if he turns out to be a halfway serviceable backup, and not a big loss if he doesn't. It's a fair reward for a player who had a great season last year, and who may well start with the Leafs.
"It’s a big weight off for me," said Scrivens about putting pen to paper. "It was a long summer and I have never really been through a process like that. (But) a lot of times that’s how negotiations work. We had things we were looking for and management had their guidelines. It was just a matter of finding that middle ground."
So hurray for Ben Scrivens. Jump for more links.
