Update:

In the second period of the Maple Leafs game vs Vegas Golden Knights, Brayden McNabb took out Andreas Johnsson with what looks like a knee-on-knee hit.

Johnsson had to be helped off the ice, and was not putting weight on that leg. One view of the hit looks like it could possibly be just above the knee on Johnsson, but that’s very hard to judge.

Leafs PR announced that Johnsson will not return to the game. We should expect to hear more details later, perhaps after the game, but equally likely not until tomorrow. The Leafs move onto Arizona to play on Saturday.

Brayden McNabb, most famous for the junior hockey hit on Joey Hishon that destroyed his season, has a long list of priors against many including T.J. Oshie, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and most recently the hit on Evgeny Kuznetsov in the playoffs last season. He is who he is. And he hits the sort of player who scores goals.

He served a two-minute minor for kneeing.
