Yesterday Brad Treliving hopped onto the radio because, it seemed, the Athletic posted a story about their reorganization of the sports medicine department. It was kinda boring to be honest, but I'm not sure I'm going to buy a string of pearls to clutch over the Athletic's take. The Leafs are down and out and this won't be the only distinct kicking motion aimed at the team.
The rest of the bit:
Insider Trading has Darren Dreger saying the Leafs are not ready to make the call on the season.

But since Treliving stayed in Toronto to meet with his various departments, they aren't far away from decisions either.
Expect to hear a lot of trade rumours as the market gets tested.

Chris Johnston has an update on the main arena in Milan up there at that Insider Trading link. They've got the ice all redone, and the interior is on track to be finished. The women play a lot of games at the second venue which had a practice tournament some weeks ago, and all went well. It looks like what it is – a smaller temporary facility, but it works.

Crazy scene for Capitals in Detroit:

1) Logan Thompson not dressed; took a shot off the mask last game
2) Charlie Lindgren injured at the end of OT
3) Stays in for shootout...wins when Larkin hits crossbar
4) Carried off by his teammatespic.twitter.com/Oj7tFeqWBx
By the way, Thompson is likely Canada's best goalie, and he is just day-to-day, so it's not a concern for his Olympic participation.
How did the Leafs do? Well, the first SOG went in for Seattle and it went from tied to 3-1 in less time than it takes to read this sentence, but the Leafs actually played one of their better games. They had the puck a decent amount, shot it from decent places and got to 3-2 on the power play.
Shane Wright got one by Anthony Stolarz – beat him clean – and this is what playing with weak goaltending looks like. A bad defensive play ends up in the net a lot more often.
This is the trouble with all that earlier inept losing, you are under pressure to win every game, and sometimes you just don't. Shit happens.
Final score was 5-2 with one ENG padding the total for the Kraken.
You can't choose to win, you can choose to do the things that lead to winning, and they did better last night than they did in the homestand. Yes that is damning them with faint praise.
Next game is Saturday, see you then.
