Okay, the winning goal with less than 30 seconds left is really brought to you by Nick Paul with Troy Stecher scoring his first in over 30 games to seal the deal.

Not a goalie duel really, but the Rangers' Garand had the harder job in a game that was always close. These two teams are fairly evenly matched, with the Leafs having a better power play which broke through the very good Rangers PK once.

For the 25th time this season, the Leafs finished up with five defenders and Nick Blankenburg left the game after a hit in the third.

Brandon Duhaime with three points on the night.

This was a first- and fourth-line success, with the middle two lines not winning their matchups much. It's fun, though, that there is usually at least two lines every night doing well. Not always the same two. Some things to build on in this game for sure, and some video sessions for a few players too.

Final score was 5-4 Leafs. The team goes on a road trip immediately for the rest of October. Get ready for some late start times.

His play is also rather good. And yet there is room for improvement, which means the team will improve more this year.
