The Toronto Maple Leafs started off the pre-season last night with a convincing 4-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens. There was only a little bit of the normal pre-season sloppiness to be seen from the Leafs, while the Habs looked incapable of putting together any dangerous offence. Here’s our recap of last night’s game.
Kyle Dubas was busy before the game issuing a contract to one of the 2020 draft picks.
Some bad news from yesterday are the reports that Ian Scott has reinjured his groin. There’s no updates yet on exactly how bad it is, but it doesn’t sound good. Scott can’t catch a break. He’s missed so much time with injuries and recovery from surgery it’s a wonder he remembers how to play.

The second of six pre-season games is tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. in Montreal. Also of note, the Seattle Kraken play their first game today, a pre-season match against the Canucks. It might be interesting to tune in to that one and see how they have put together the team.
One of Coyotes is actually a good artist. No surprise he’s a goalie. Good hand eye coordination and attention to details. The others are... not so good.
In the Q, Ève Gascon continued her trailblazing in men’s junior hockey, playing in net for the Gatineau Olympiques in pre-season game. The game actually went into overtime so she played 64 minuets, stopping 34 of 35 shots.

It sounds like some changes are coming to the Sportsnet hockey broadcasts starting with the new season. This is not yet officially confirmed by anyone.
So, there's not a ton of concrete info out there but here's what I believe is going to be announced as part of the new lineups at @Sportsnet : it sounds like @SNCaroline is the new host of Wednesday night Hockey. She is replacing @JeffMarek . Marek, I'm told will be moving to— jonah (@yyzsportsmedia) September 25, 2021
Where will Marek move to? I won’t leave you in suspense. Jonah adds in the next Tweet he will replace Chris Johnston on the panel. Marek will also apparently be on the radio more too.
Ottawa Senators Trade Logan Brown for Zach Sanford - Silver Seven
The trade concludes what ultimately was a disappointing run for the once highly-touted prospect Logan Brown. Despite producing at a stellar pace in the AHL, he was never able to stay healthy enough, or improve enough defensively, to lock down a permanent spot on the NHL squad.
Luc Tardif elected as the new IIHF President
Tardif, who has citizenship of France and Canada, was elected to the IIHF Council in 2012 where he served as Treasurer. He played junior hockey in Canada and professional hockey in Belgium and France where he started his hockey career off the ice with Rouen’s youth program.
