Good morning Toronto Maple Leafs fans!
A couple weeks ago I thought of a nice alliterative title for a Wednesday FTB and took a brief look at former Leafs prospect Robbie Earl.
This week I opened one of my favourite hockey websites, Quant Hockey, and it opened to the Newfoundland page so I decided to find a player from our east to look at and finalized on:
Colin Greening!
A 2005 seventh round draft pick of the Ottawa Senators, Greening played out his NCAA career at Cornell, never missing a single game and being inducted into the exclusive "Quill and Dagger" society. A formerly secret club founded by author EB White, whose membership includes 24 Olympians (including former Maple Leaf Ben Scrivens), the Coors family, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Ken Dryden.
He made his professional debut in the 2010-11 season, splitting the season evenly between Ottawa and Binghamton at 24 games each about would win his first Calder Cup in Binghamton.
He would be in the Senators system until 2016 when on February 9th he would be part of the big Dion Phaneuf trade and become a Toronto Maple Leaf.

Briefly. He would finish the season in the NHL with Toronto, but spend three more seasons with the Toronto Marlies, where he would win his second Calder Cup in 2018.
One more professional season and he would retire from hockey, and return to university, pursuing an MBA at Harvard University. There is no word if he was a member of The Hasty Pudding Club.
According to his LinkedIn, he has been working in finance, was a Trustee with the NHL Players’ Retirement Benefits Plan for several year, and is currently working in Portland, Maine. Hope he's enjoying some Maine Mariners games out there.
Now, some news.
There was a PWHL trade yesterday:
the deal will be one for one with Taylor Girard going to New York and Jill Saulnier going to Boston

sounds like deal is done
Easton Cowan will never stop scoring, no matter what you want.
#Leafs prospect Easton Cowan with the secondary assist, extends his regular season point streak to 61 games.

Connor McDavid was suspended three games for his cross check:
Oilers fans are mad about him facing punishment for his actions and are reaching out to blame others.
It seems like all eyes were on Matthew Knies after the Lighting game.

What do the Leafs need most at the deadline?

The Leafs are very lucky to have a superstar like Hailey Wickenheiser on staff.
Adam Laskaris at the Daily Hive spoke with her about this.
“You get a chance to talk to the players, work with them every single day, try to help them get better, whether it’s on the ice, off the ice, and in a variety of different areas. You get a chance to watch these guys come in as 17- or 18-year-old kids and grow into men in the NHL,” Wickenheiser said.
While we're not hearing any big smack talk between Canada and the US over the Four Nations Face Off (probably because they know this is just a meaningless money grab), the dislike between Finland and Sweden knows no bounds.

Utah Hockey Club is still in search of a mascot and name, and they're running into legal trouble.

Canada is leading the Rivalry Series between Canada and the US women's teams 2-1 and as we head out east for the final two games the roster has been set.

Finally, Patrik Laine had struggles that almost made him quit hockey. He used his status and ability to garner attention to speak out about the experience.

Enjoy your day everyone!
