The Maple Leafs have released their 2025 opening day roster. After a day of some surprises, the first set of players has been assembled.
First, at practice this morning, Easton Cowan suddenly dropped down to extra forward and out of the regular forward lineup.
Next, after all four players waived yesterday cleared, the Leafs claimed two new ones:

James Reimer was released from his PTO.
Both of the new players are, naturally, on the roster as announced today:
Forwards
Sammy Blais
Max Domi
Calle Järnkrok
Dakota Joshua
Matthew Knies
Steven Lorentz
Matias Maccelli
Auston Matthews
Bobby McMann
William Nylander
Jacob Quillan
Nicholas Robertson
Nicolas Roy
John Tavares
Defence
Simon Benoit
Brandon Carlo
Oliver Ekman-Larsson
Jake McCabe
Philippe Myers
Morgan Rielly
Chris Tanev
Goaltenders
Cayden Primeau
Anthony Stolarz
*now corrected, thanks Leafs PR.
We can presume that Cowan and Dennis Hildeby have been sent to the AHL.
Jacob Quillan's inclusion on the #leafs opening day roster submission is a cap-related move. https://t.co/85XnPMbktT
