The status of the Maple Leafs on Tuesday morning, opening day of the regular season, is still in flux. The expectation is that they have assigned Marshall Rifai to LTIR which would allow for the recall of Easton Cowan who was not on the opening day roster filed yesterday.

Rifai had surgery on his wrist at the end of September and will be out for at least the 24 days required by LTIR. He would be waived for return to the Marlies when healthy.

Scott Laughton is not on LTIR, just IR, raising the possibility he could return sooner than the LTIR minimums.

Jacob Quillan, who was on the opening day roster, is still on the roster as of practice. He is waivers exempt and can be sent to the AHL at any time.

The new players were also present:

Sammy Blais is wearing 79, per multiple reports.

The lines looked like this:

Knies - Matthews - Maccelli
McMann - Tavares - Nylander
Joshua - Domi - Robertson
Lorentz - Roy - Järnkrok
Blais

McCabe - Tanev
Rielly - Carlo
Ekman-Larsson - Benoit
