Well, to be honest, I did all sorts of things on the weekend. I made soup stock, watched a couple of movies, sat outside in the evening when it was cool. Summer Hiatus is going to officially start tomorrow, and I'll put up a post for cat gifs and baseball talk. But really, it's already here.

The Marlies are full, not to bursting, because AHL teams always need an ungodly number of defencemen, but they have enough to be getting on with. The Leafs are full up, likely overfull, but we thought that last year, and injuries kept kicking the can down the road on roster decisions.

All that's left are mights. They might make a trade, they might sign another UFA, they might add some AHLers.

And then there's the maybes. The Red Wings will maybe trade Larkin and even if they don't, maybe they will have the lowest total cap hit this season. Maybe Jason Robertson signs before his arbitration hearing. Maybe Hellebuyck will get traded to Buffalo.

The NHL schedule will be revealed this week, with opening day matchups (please be Ottawa, please be Ottawa) on Tuesday with the full schedule on Wednesday. So if you robbed a bank this weekend, you could buy Leafs tickets!

After hiatus is over, we will roar right straight into the T25. There will be a call for official voters, then not now. And we will aim to run the event right up to the rookie tournament in Gatineau. Around that time, and through training camp focus will shift entirely to NHL players and my plan is to put together something a little deeper than the hasty July 1 articles on all the new acquisitions.

I do not believe the Leafs have made the signing of Timofei Obvintsev official yet, so that will likely happen today. Such excitement! A thing to look forward to where they put out a press release and we wait the five minutes until someone else reports the AAV.
