Welcome to what is possibly going to be the dullest week of June. Someone could go for a big trade early, since it has happened before, but with the SCF wrapping up either tomorrow or Friday, it's more likely everyone waits.

Today's news will be Olympic teams.

The only thing I've heard about this is that Alex Pietrangelo will not be named to Team Canada at this time, and that may indicate something about his physical state. Or not. No one will say. That was in 32 Thoughts about a week ago.

This article has some guesses:

The Hockey Writers predicted the “first six” players named to each nation’s 2026 Winter Olympics roster for Ice Hockey.

I have zero idea if that's good or not, but it's better than I could do.

Various teams have been signing ELCs for prospects. Rights for most Europeans and CHL players expire on June 1, so heading into the season before expiry is a common time to sign players if they are ready to move to the AHL. NCAA players see their rights expire on August 15, so they also tend to get signed at this time of the year if they're due.

The only potential player the Leafs have is Sam McCue, just drafted last year. They have from now through next season to decide on him. He's set to play in Brantford this year, so expect nothing on that front until next spring.
