If you missed it yesterday, a lot of Olympic rosters were announced.

This handy article has USA, Sweden and Finland.

They speak for me.

If you think the Leafs are the whole of the world, and really, who doesn't? Then what you need to know is:

Auston Matthews, William Nylander and Oliver Ekman-Larsson will be in Milan while their teammates promise to workout but will actually go to Grand Cayman.

In WJC news, Germany very convincingly sent Denmark down the elevator to the lower division. Sweden bounced Latvia with ease, The Czechs took care of the Swiss and in the later game, Finland upset the host USA to get to the semifinals.

Team Canada got out ahead early against Slovakia, the least capable team in the quarterfinals, and when I quit paying attention it was 7-1.

If I'm reading the standings right, the semis will be Canada vs Czechia, the only team to give them any kind of a fight in the preliminary round, and old friends Sweden vs Finland will play in the other one. All the games from now on are in the big rink in St. Paul.

Today is an off day at the WJC with the semifinals on Sunday and the medal games on Monday.

In NHL news, some game was played outside. I don't know anything about it, no Leafs were in it.

More on the Islanders later today in the preview, but Bo Horvat won't be playing:

Islanders’ Bo Horvat out at least a week, avoids worst-case scenario
The New York Islanders centre is set to miss at least the next week after suffering an injury against the Utah Mammoth on Thursday, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Friday.

So, about the Leafs all-time goal record. Auston Matthews is one behind Mats Sundin, but Sundin, who played in 981 games to get 420 goals, had 987 total points, so Matthews, with 758 points in 663 games, needs to score two to take the lead.

While I'm looking at goal stats, William Nylander is at 276 goals in ninth place all-time. He is 20 behind George Armstrong and Frank Mahovlich, and 24 behind Rick Vaive, so he might not vault to fifth this year, but he's not far off.

And since we're seeing the Islanders today, I'll mention that John Tavares is 12th all-time on the Leafs with 237 goals and ninth on the Islanders with 272. Tavares is fifth on the list for active NHL players with 509 in total.

Auston Matthews is 10th for active players with 419. The highest ranked player after him born in 1997 is a fellow named Connor McDavid who is 15th.
