I know we're all waiting for the big game tonight, but let's take a look back at last night first, with the Leafs losing to the Kraken 4-3 in OT, still picking up a point to salvage what was in many ways a bad game.

Naturally, it started with noted Burlington-born Kraken star Shane Wright.

Mo stepped up to get one back.

The Kraken scored again and then Admiral JT came out to prove he's still got it.

Stolarz was smashed in the game, and not the fun kind of smashed on a Saturday night, but the kind where Mason Marchment smashes into you, and not the fun kind of Mason Marchment smashing into you, but the kind where he almost blows out your knees and... OK let's just get to the clip. Stolarz got pretty pissed off at this happening to him again, for the second time this season.

But in the third period it was Admiral John Tavares who tied up the game again, and restored hope. It was his 500th point as a Leaf, and he's now sitting at 1,121 points in his NHL career.

Hope was then quickly crushed in OT by a guy whose last NHL goal scored was over 100 games ago in 2023, and I will give you one guess against which team he scored that goal.

Anthony Stolarz was not happy with the results and blamed his own team, and wasn't particularly bothered by the Marchment incident.

It's just playing hard. I mean, maybe we can take a page out of their book and start getting to the net. For us, we like to go low to high and shoot, but for their goalie it's like playing catch in the yard. He’s seeing everything and we're not making it difficult. We made it difficult in the third and look what happened.

The Marlies fared better in OT last night, defeating the Senators 2-1 with both goals made by Borya Valis. Here's the first.

And here's the second and OT winner by "Aurora Boryavalis." How does Todd Crocker think these up on the fly for every game?

The Marlies play at home today against the Utica Comets, a town noted for its lack of steamed hams. Good luck getting to the Coliseum with the Waterfront Marathon on until the early afternoon and no GO service to Exhibition from the west.

This Mitch guy looks good. Maybe the Leafs should trade for him.

NHL Referee Announces Wrong Goal Call at Panthers vs. Devils
Referee Michael Markovic had to offer an immediate retraction and correction after announcing the wrong goal review results at Panthers vs. Devils.

I love the look on his face when he realises he said the wrong thing.

The Carolina Hurricanes remain the only team with a perfect record this season with five straight wins. The San Jose Sharks have yet to win a single game, though with two OT losses in five games, they are technically above the Flames in points%, which is the worst team in the league as of now.

Schneider: Springer ‘feeling a lot better’ heading into Game 6 of ALCS after HBP
Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters on Saturday that Springer was “feeling a lot better than he did yesterday.” The 36-year-old had a CT scan on Friday night that confirmed there was no fracture, and Springer will be receiving treatment at Rogers Centre leading up to a win-or-go-home Game 6 for Toronto.

Enjoy your Sunday as best you can. It's supposed to rain for the whole afternoon here in Toronto, perfect day for a comfort food brunch with Hong Kong-style peanut butter and banana french toast. If you don't have condensed milk on hand, icing sugar would work too, or even that can of whipped cream, or whynotboth.gif.
