It's over. What more to say? It ended with a humiliating seven straight losses with the final one against the Senators last night. So what next? Is this the end of an era, or the start of a new one. Or do the Leafs wind up back in that mushy middle of mediocrity. The Leafs players will have a locker clean out day today where there will be some more blabber before they they are off to tropical island golf vacations. Here's what some had to say last night.
We're not done here though. We have draft content coming, more analysis from the podcast crew, and one thing we know for certain is the Marlies are making the AHL Calder Cup playoffs. Their final regular season games are this weekend on Saturday and Sunday at 4:00 p.m. against the Laval Rocket at the Coliseum.
The Marlies really want to win these games out to have the chance to jump up to third place in the division and not have to face either the Amerks or Comets (mathematically unlikely, but still possible the Comets could do this with three straight regulation wins) in the play-in round, and instead skip that and go straight to facing the Syracuse Crunch in the playoffs, and also getting a few extra days off in that scenario. The Marlies are only one point back of the Monsters with both teams having only two games remaining. Here are the current North Division Standings.

The Sceptres have three games left in their season and their loss to the New York Sirens last night hurt their chances of making the playoffs, but only a bit. They are two standings points behind the Sirens which means they are still in the mix, but putting together three wins here would be ideal. Their next game is Sunday in Minnesota.
There was one era that did come to an end last night.
