The Maple Leafs pulled out a win in a shootout last night against the Flyers, possibly with the help of cheesestakes.

Truffled cheese whiz? I suppose you save the bottle of champ for the end to wash that horrid taste out of your mouth. Kapanen knows Philly well having spent time there a decade ago when his father played for the Flyers, so I am sure he knows he would get smacked down by the locals pretty fast for ordering a cheesestake made with wagyu, not to mention that goal he scored last night.

Here’s our recap of the game.

Recap: Maple Leafs beat the Flyers in an 11-round shootout

The Leafs have three games this week, all at home. On Tuesday they host the Kings, on Thursday they host the Golden Knights, and Saturday is another matchup against the Flyers.

Kappy noted two particular Leafs who slowly got less excited and more worried as the shootout went on, realising that they might actually be forced to go out and wind up in the unenviable position of having to score to win the game.

Marlies

Did you know the Marlies have yet lose a game in regulation? However, they have lost games, including last night in a shootout against the Laval Rocket. There were some good Marlies highlights. Check our Rasmus Sandin scoring here:

We’ll have a recap of their weekend games later this morning.

The next leg of the Marlies Royal Winter Fair road trip will take them on a rare visit through the AHL Central Division to play the Grand Rapids Griffins (Red Wings affiliates) and the Rockford Ice Hogs (Blackhawks affiliates).

Other News

So this happened.

If you thought that was gross Milan Lucic did something even more disgusting to Kole Sherwood. The DoPS has already said they will investigate.

After all that, Brad Marchand decided he was not to be outdone on being a garbage person for the night.

  • 6:08    63     B.MARCHAND    2 Hooking
  • 6:08    63     B.MARCHAND    4 Spearing - double minor/

Six minutes of penalties in one go. Good work, Marchand! For the record, the Senators did not score on the ensuing power play.

There is also the Scott Sabourin incident from yesterday. He is still in the hospital as I write this. Let’s end all this on a high note.

I hope you remembered to turn back your clocks by an hour!
