That game was annoying and terrible.

It’s not only because the Maple Leafs lost to the Canadiens on a Saturday night national game, or because they want over 15 minutes without a shot-on-goal in the third period. It’s because the Habs tied things up with only minutes left and then how easily and quickly they won it all when Ilya Kovalchuk scored in the OT period. The text of this Tweet says it all.

John Tavares still made a good impression on one of our new Leafs.

Here’s our recap of last night’s game.

GDT: Maple Leafs vs. Canadiens

On the bright side, the Panthers lost to the Penguins which left the Leafs still in a playoff spot with an extra two points of protection from the Panthers taking it back. The Leafs next game is on Tuesday when they host the Coyotes.

Mason Marchment has been on fire for the Marlies this weekend. He had a hat trick Friday night, and scored twice on Saturday. It should be noted that Nic Petan was the first assist on four of those five goals, including this one in the very first minute of yesterday’s game.

The Marlies play again today at 4:00 p.m. against the Laval Rocket.

Leafs prospect Nicholas Robertson picked up goal number 42 of the season last night with the Petes.
