Three wins to one. That’s where the Maple Leafs stand this morning in their series against the Canadiens after a huge 4-0 win last night.

Leafs-Habs Game 4 Recap: Action Grandpas Are Go!

The next game is tomorrow night and that could be where the Leafs end the whole series with another win.

There’s a lot of standouts that deserve praise right now, and we’ve got things in progress to talk about all of them, from Jack Campbell to William Nylander, but how about Alex Galchenyuk? Bringing him in was a bit of a gamble by the Leafs, and they didn’t hide the fact he was considered to be a ‘project’ who needed a little more than just another fresh start after having bounced around five different teams in only five seasons. They put him to work with the development staff, and the Marlies, and he openly accepted that.

That gamble had a nice pay off last night with two huge assists on Leafs goals. First was his no look pass to Nylander.

Then came the perfect pass to Spezza.

And top top it all off he had the empty net goal too (after Zach Hyman shocked us by somehow missing on it a minute before).

You can expect the chatter to begin soon about where he will play next season, if it hasn’t already started—this is the Leafs and Toronto and we’re always talking about what happens three steps ahead. So is this season enough to think his career has turned back around, or does he still need another year to prove it? Should the Leafs keep him, and at what contract value?

While Eric Stall certainly had a bad night playing in Toronto, fortunes turned for his brother Jordan, who scored an OT goal for the Hurricanes. It was a pretty unusual goal too, swatting the puck into the net with his stick mid-air.

The fallout in Edmonton has started and there’s fingers being pointed everywhere, even at Connor McDavid, which is very dumb.
