Today the AHL announced a long list of substitutions to their All-Star Game roster. Travis Dermott, who is expected to stay on the Maple Leafs roster, at least for the time being if not permanently, has been replaced with Marlies defender Justin Holl.

Holl is tied with Dermott in points, and they lead the Marlies defenders in that category. Dermott has amassed his 18 in nine fewer games, however. Both he and Timothy Liljegren are ahead of Holl in points per game, but Holl is having a great year as part of what might just be the best defence in the AHL.

The Marlies other All-Star this year is to be Kasperi Kapanen, but since he is also on the NHL roster, he might not be available. We’ll know later this week if he needs to be replaced. I can think of two Swedes who could take up the job. Either Andreas Johnsson or Dmytro Timashov would be excellent choices as subs as would Ben Smith.

The AHL skills competition is this Sunday night, and the game itself is on Monday evening.
