Today the Toronto Marlies released their training camp roster, which will surely grow after the Maple Leafs make some more cuts from their camp after tonight’s game. What we see below is a mix of PTO’s, AHL contracts, and draft picks.

The majority of these forwards will most likely end up cut or playing for the Newfoundland Growlers. The Maple Leafs still have an entire teams worth of AHL players up at their camp so these PTO’s may just be filler for camp or trying out for a spot on the rock.

Kristian Pospisil is injured to start camp.

A couple of 2018 draft picks, Sean Durzi and Mac Hollowell, will be at camp as the Leafs try to decide whether to send them home to the OHL or keep them up with the Marlies. Sam Jardine and Alex Gudbranson are back, after they split last season between the E and the A.

One interesting name is Kyle Cumiskey, who missed all of last season and all but 12 games of the 16/17 season recovering from an injury. He’s here at camp to see if he can still hack it after a long rest, and at 32 he’s by far the oldest skater at camp right now.

31Justin PetersL6'1210lbsBlyth, ON32Riga (KHL)/ Cologne (DEL)PTO

Two of these names we know; Kasimir Kaskisuo was a free agent signing in 2016 and was loaned to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL last year and Eamon McAdam was acquired from the New York Islanders in exchange for Matt Martin.

Justin Peters is trying out for the ECHL role perhaps, as he played for two teams last year in Europe and posted a combine 0.882sv% and a 3.2GAA in 38 games. Or he’s here to help out at camp or try to impress another team and jump camps when one of McElhinney/Sparks/Pickard are sent down.

We should see more players added to Marlies camp tonight or tomorrow morning after the game against the Montreal Canadiens tonight.
