Interesting interview with the main character of a social media narrative that likely didn't have much basis in fact. Neil Glasberg discusses the Leafs GM search.

Glasberg on the Maple Leafs’ GM search that resulted in the hiring of Chayka and why Chayka is the right man for the job
President and CEO of PBI Sports, Neil Glasberg, joins First Up to chat about the Maple Leafs’ GM search that resulted in the hiring of John Chayka, casting a wide net for the search, why Chayka is the right fit in the Toronto market and more.

He mentions that several Leafs alumni reached out to be part of the process. He also says that many people contracted Keith Pelley directly who then passed the names on to Glasberg. He says everyone was spoken to, although not everyone in a formal interview format. As many people from the corporate world explained well in our comments as the time, Glasberg was not making the choice, he was bringing candidates to the MLSE search committee who then made the decisions. The concept that he was just promoting his own clients and telling the fools at MLSE who to hire was never real.

In what might be news or is news to me, Glasberg helped with the coach search in a less extensive way than the GM search.

He says an attribute of John Chayka's that helped him was that he is direct and tells it like it is. No BS.

Worth a listen until it becomes chatter about a golf tournament.

Prospect Juuso Ainasto got to play in his first game yesterday for Finland at the WJSS. I don't know what the chances are he makes the Finnish WJC team, but at least he's on their radar. He's played in two games for Finland several years ago in international friendlies but nothing since.

Canada doesn't start playing until Wednesday.

That's all for today so far. Enjoy.
